Bob was a kind and gentle man, soft spoken, but with a playful sense of humour present even to his last days. Devoted to his wife and family, he lived life to its fullest and was happiest when he was surrounded by his family. Bob took special delight in his grandchildren, teaching them to skate at the community rink, even on the coldest of days and imparting to them his broad knowledge and skills in woodworking and mechanics. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years Agnes (Buors); his son Barry of Centre Taché; his daughter Mary-Anne (Thomson) and husband Andrew; and his grandsons, Alastair and Fraser. Bob is also survived by his brother's sons, Gary (Leslie) and Grant (Patricia); his wife's family including sisters-in-law, Herveline Calvez, Elise Chartrand, Suzanne Carrière, Anita Paul, and his many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Helena Boden of Carman, MB, his brother Edwin (Eddy) and wife Lynda of Winnipeg and his infant son Brian. Bob was born in Carman, MB on November 3, 1918. When he was only ten years old his father died and owing to his mother's subsequent poor health, Bob and his brother were placed with other families in the Carman area. Bob went to live with his friend Cecil McLaughlin's family where he helped on their farm. He received numerous prizes for his horses at the Carmen Fair. Bob enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1941 and saw service on the West Coast. It was during this time that he met Joseph Colliou, cousin of his future wife, Agnes. Bob was discharged from the army 1944 due to chronic bronchitis and asthma before seeing overseas service. Returning to Manitoba he went to work at George Allan's garage in Winnipeg. In 1952 Bob began his long association with Brooks Equipment Ltd., retiring in 1983. Bob and Agnes were married on November 26, 1947 living first on Sherburn Street and following the birth of their son, Barry moving to Bronx Avenue in East Kildonan where they have resided for over 50 years. Bob and Agnes enjoyed their cottage at Laurentia Beach, first tenting and finally buying a cabin in 1957 which was expanded several times for their growing family. A mechanic by profession, Bob could always be found working on one project or another or offering his assistance to anyone who asked. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2004.
