Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPEGGY MILLARD (MARION MARGUERITE) (nee ROBINSON) Peggy passed away on May 4, 2006 in White Rock, BC surrounded by her family, after a short illness. She was the loving wife of Bert Millard for 62 years, mother of Helen La Rue (Leonard) of Winnipeg, James (Liz Coles) of Burlington and John (Chris) of White Rock. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Alex and Ian La Rue, Mark, Chantelle, Jamie and Krystal Millard. She was born in Altario, AB, grew up in Banff and graduated from McGill University in 1942 (B.Sc. Home Ec.). She married Hubert Millard in 1945, and the family moved many times with the Hudson's Bay Co. In Winnipeg, she worked for the Assiniboia North School Division as Director of Special Education (1965 - 1970), and was instrumental in the creation of the Kirkfield School for Exceptional Children in 1967. For a Centennial project that year she carved a 12 foot totem pole in her back yard to great acclaim! She was Vice Principal of Hedges Junior High, then Home Economics Supervisor in the newly created St. James-Assiniboia School Division 1969 - 1971, and finished her teaching career in Toronto as a High School Home Economics teacher in 1980. In retirement she read hundreds of books for the CNIB in Toronto until she and Bert moved to White Rock 1989 . She carried on reading at the Crane Library at UBC until 1998. She was very involved in the United Church, leading a creative writing group and singing in the choir. She will be remembered for her skills as a gourmet cook, ruthless scrabble player, fashion diva and great party organizer! Her enthusiasm, creativity, devotion and love will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A service and celebration of her life will be held on July 6 at Sunnyside United Church on 24th Avenue, White Rock, BC.
