VINKO MARGITS On June 24, 2006, at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Vinko Margits, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Maria. He is survived by his daughter Maria Fewster (Del), son Jerry Margits (Stephie) grandchildren, Laura Novak (John), Steven Fewster (Chanda), Suzan Senga, Valerie Lucket (John) and great- grandchildren Tyler Fewster, Mary Novak, Katrina Novak, Joseph Senga, Shannon Lucket and Autumn Lucket. He leaves to mourn his passing, his niece Vlasta and family, and many friends and family in Croatia, USA and Canada. Vinko was born in Erdut, Croatia in 1922. He met and married Maria (Hanjilic). In 1952, Vinko arrived in Canada. Maria and their two children followed later that year. Vinko worked for The City Of Winnipeg, starting at the Parks And Rec. Department, then the Streets and Traffic Department, where he spent the majority of his working life. He spent a few years at the Meter Department until he retired in 1986. Vinko and Maria spent many happy years travelling to Europe and around Canada while wintering in The States. The family would like to thank all the staff on the 5th floor, unit 7 at the Seven Oaks Hospital for the care and compassion they gave Dad. Prayers will be held Tuesday, June 27, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 28, at 10:00 a.m. at the Croatian Catholic Church, St. Nicholas Tavelich, 2688 Main Street, with Rev. Msgr. Norman Chartrand as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
