Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEFAN (STEVE) KITZUL Born August 20, 1918 in Jedburgh, SK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Steve on June 23, 2006 at The Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home. Dad will be greatly missed by his children, John Kitzul, Rose Anne Kitzul and Elizabeth Kitzul. He was predeceased by his parents, Miranda and Esak Kitzul as well as his siblings, Verna Rumin, Mary Lukany, Anne Kitzul, Doris Wolowidnyk, Katherine Kitzul and (Wasyl and George Kitzul in infancy). Dad will be remembered for his generosity, his superb cooking and especially his joking around. When we were kids he enjoyed taking us all to Falcon Lake, where we had a trailer and would stay all summer. He would come out on weekends and take us swimming or fishing and we'd go driving around and out for ice cream. He loved to go watch the bears and even chase them. Dad moved to Winnipeg around 1945 and married Kay Komerniski who predeceased him in May of 1965. He worked for CNR on the trains as a cook and when he moved to Winnipeg, later established his own tailor shop, Service Tailors on James Avenue. Following moms passing he closed the shop, although he continued to do tailoring and alterations out of his home. He then worked at BMW Sports Wear and Varta Batteries until his retirement at age 65. Dad was an active volunteer at The Poplar Senior Centre, hosting the weekly senior dance as well as an active member at St. Ivan Suchavsky Cathedral, where he was a member of The Perogy Club. There he so enjoyed all the great friends, joking around and camaraderie. Dad had a passion for travelling and seeing the world and every year he ran off to some exotic spot. Besides Mexico, Jamaica, Hawaii, Barbados, Cuba, England, Scotland, and the Bahamas, he drove his truck three times to the NWT and The Yukon to Alaska, which he could never get enough of. Thanks to the staff and volunteers at the St. Boniface Hospital, The HSC, Lions Manor, and especially the staff and volunteers at The Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home who made his 2nd home so comfortable and happy for him. Prayers will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ivan Suchavsky Cathedral, 939 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Steve's memory may be made to the charity of their choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
