Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE ZLOTY On Monday, June 26, 2006 at Fred Douglas Lodge, after a number of years of declining health, Anne, aged 92 years, widow of Basil (Bill) Zloty, passed away peacefully. Anne was born in Winnipeg on March 11, 1914 and lived all of her life in Winnipeg's north end. Anne was employed from an early age, first in domestic work and selling produce at Winnipeg's old Stella markets, and later at the former Kresges store on Portage Avenue where she worked in the lunch counter and the candy counter. Anne also met the love of her life in Winnipeg's north end. Anne and Bill were married in Winnipeg on August 12, 1940 and lived most of their married life together on Bannerman Avenue. After marriage and children, Anne enjoyed working part-time in several local greenhouses and baking fancy dainties at home for her cousin's bakery. Anne was known for her novelty pig collection, her love of gardening and ten pin bowling, and her passion for her family. Anne is survived by her daughter Linda Caligiuri and husband Erminio, son Richard Zloty and wife Antoinette, and cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Laura Caligiuri (fiancé Cory Irwin) and Natasha and Jeremy Zloty. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the many people who provided care and comfort to us all. Special thanks are extended to Anne's attending physician, Dr. Ken Hahlweg, nurse practitioner, Alex Kowalski, and to John Lenshyn, pastoral care coordinator and all the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge, for their longstanding care and concern. Very special thanks are extended to Marie Wilson for her care, friendship and support throughout the last years of Anne's life. In accordance with Anne's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Ave. with a private interment following the reception. Flowers are gratefully declined and for those wishing to do so, donations may be made in Anne's memory to the Fred Douglas Foundation, 1275 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X OB8. Through all the seasons of her life, Anne had time to enjoy the gifts of each day, laughter to help meet life's challenges, and many friends to share her joys.
