SOPHIE BIZRUCHAK (nee OLYNIK) March 9, 1922 - June 26, 2006 Peacefully, passed away at Concordia Hospital at the age of 84 years. Sophie will be sadly missed by daughter Virginia and son-in-law Raymond Martin; grandchildren, Vincent and Rebecca Martin, all of Calgary, and granddaughter Roxanne Martin of Sydney, Australia; daughter Patricia Birk of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband William; father Nicholas; mother Anna; brother Johnny and sister-in-law Jean. Sophie was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother whose proudest moments came from the accomplishments of her family. Sophie will be remembered as a woman with great inner beauty, who lived her life by example and with dignity. Our family commends Dr. Terry Babick for his excellent medical care. We also sincerely thank the nurses and staff of Holy Family Nursing Home, especially St. Paul's Ward for their compassionate care and friendship. Special thanks also to social worker, Donna Bryk. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 29 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. A Celebration of Sophie's life will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 30 at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond and Vincent Martin and Brian and Bruce Olynik. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Nursing Home - Day Program, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Winnipeg, R2W 1T9.
