Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRIE GREY Peacefully, on Sunday, June 25, 2006, Lawrie Grey passed away at West Park Manor at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his loving wife Vera in 2000. Lawrie was born on December 14, 1916 in Winnipeg, MB to Aaron and Mary Grey and was the fifth of their five children. He grew up in Winnipeg attending Gordon Bell High School and was very active in sports, particularly hockey and football. He also attended Young United Church where he met his lifelong love and companion Vera Donnelly. He married Vera in 1940 and they moved to Thunder Bay (Fort William) where they raised their two children, Linda and Jim. Lawrie worked for Jessiman Motors and they had an active social life. They were very involved with the Kinsmen Club and its charitable activities. In 1960 they returned to Winnipeg and lived in St. Vital. He started work with A W and this career would continue for 21 years until he retired as Corporate Secretary. They moved to Vancouver in 1970 and lived there for 11 years before finally returning to Winnipeg. Lawrie leaves his daughter Linda (Charlie) Eilman and their family, including grand-daughter Julie (Mark) Wright and great-granddaughter Lauren and grandson Michael (Valerie) Eilman and great-granddaughters Caroline and Amanda and great-grandson Nathan, all of Baltimore; and his son Jim (Marilyn) Grey and their family including grandson Jeff (Susie) Grey and great-grandsons Simon and Oliver, grandson Brock (Tricia) Grey and great-granddaughters Lauren and Jordan and granddaughter Jill (Jason) Peters and great-grandson Anderson, all of Vancouver. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30 in Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. An interment will take place at Thomson In the Park Cemetery following the service.
