GORDON HAROLD WRIGHT November 9, 1935 - June 27, 2006 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the Health Sciences Centre, with his loving family surrounding him. Left to mourn Gordon's passing are his loving wife and soulmate, Marjorie; three children, Kim Whattam (Paul) of Sherwood Park, AB, Karen of Surrey, BC and Kreg of Winnipeg; and three grandchildren, Meghan, Michael and Zachary. Gordon began his work career with TransCanada Airlines, then moved to a supervisory position with Motor Coach Industries and finally as Materials Co-ordinator for the Winnipeg Mint for 20 years, until his health forced him to retire. He was devoted to his family and fortunately, as the recipient of a transplant, was able to spend the last years visiting with them, taking trips and seeing his grandchildren graduate. Gordon was happiest with a board and hammer in his hand and he created many objects for his children. He loved to swim, ballroom dance, was a faithful member of the Reh-Fit Centre for 20 years and took many cruises with his wife. Gordon made everyone welcome in his home and his ability to talk to any person gave him lasting friendships, as in The Boys of Elmwood, the Rita Street Gang, the Dirty Dozen of Westview Dance Club and the wonderful Boat People. He will be missed by all who knew him. Gordon spent the last two years with his beloved Bichon, Popcorn, as a pet therapist, giving comfort and compassion to the patients of Riverview Hospital. Now he and Popcorn have crossed the Rainbow Bridge together. A private family inurnment will take place on Friday, June 30 in Chapel Lawn Cemetery and a Celebration of Gordon's Life will be held on Saturday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. in Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., with Rev. Joanne Kury officiating. Our family would like to give our grateful thanks to Dr. David Rush, Dr. M. Karpinski and Dr. R. James Boyd and their nurses for the excellent care they have given him over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gordon's memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to CancerCare Manitoba. Gordon's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
