Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR SANGSTER On Tuesday, June 27, 2006, Arthur died at the Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 88 years. Left to mourn Arthur's passing are his son Doug (Kathy); daughter Ellen; grandson Sandy (Judy); sister Isobel Dixon; brother Red (Mary); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Beth); older brother Bill; and younger brothers, Alf and Ian. Arthur was born September 4, 1917 to William and Eliza Sangster on the homestead farm in the Municipality of Shell River, MB. He attended school at Comenso then in the Silverwood District. In Arthur's early years, he worked for different farmers during the summer months and logging camps in the Duck and Riding Mountains. In 1939, Arthur moved to Winnipeg. In 1949, he met and married Beth Wilson, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage in 2004. Arthur worked at Consolidated Motors in Winnipeg for 20 years and then for DIAND as a Maintenance and Construction Supervisor, which took him to Garden Hill, The Pas and Thompson, retiring after 20 years to Bowsman. For 56 years, Arthur was a member of United Commercial Travellers. He was active in the Legion and held a life membership in Bowsman Branch #51. Arthur was awarded the Meritorius Service Medal, which is the highest honour that can be awarded to a Legion member. He served on the Bowsman Town Council; serving four years as Councilor and four years as Mayor. Arthur enjoyed curling and trap shooting. He was President of the Swan River Trap Club for 12 years, a sport that he loved. Arthur moved to Winnipeg in 1996 and most recently to the Deer Lodge Centre. In compliance with Arthur's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot in Mountview Cemetery, Silverwood, MB. Our family wishes to thank the staff at the Deer Lodge Centre 4East for their care and compassion that they provided him. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur's memory may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
