MILDRED SZKOLNICKI (nee BARTOSH) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mildred Szkolnicki after a brief stay at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg. She is predeceased by her husband Brian (2002); parents, Paul and Mary Bartosh; and sister Stella (Buckowski). She is survived by sister Helen; sons, Mark (Anne Stevens) of Alberta, Warren (Caroline Ashley) of Alberta and Robert. Mildred was born in Winnipeg and lived her entire life in this city. As a young adult she was a payroll clerk with the Province of Manitoba. She travelled throughout North America with her family and friends. In 1958, she married Brian and left work to become a mother of three children. Her years as a wife and mother were happy and good. Weekdays and weekends were enriched by spending time with other members of the Canadian Polish Athletic Club. Friday was the day to get her hair done. Saturday morning was shopping day at Polo Park. Sunday was attending church service in the morning followed by hosting the family for lunch. As often as they could, her later years were spent with Brian on a beach in Hawaii or under the lights of Las Vegas. Mildred was a friend to many and she will be missed. The family thanks those who have had her in their thoughts over the past few weeks. The family also wants to thank the staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital, third floor, unit 5 who made her as comfortable as possible. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, 361 Burrows Ave. on Saturday, July 1 at 10:00 a.m. Cremation has already taken place. Private interment will happen at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society, CancerCare Manitoba, or the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

  • My condolences to the family on the loss of your mother. My parents enjoyed the several trips to Hawaii with your mom and dad. I remember her with fondness. I know that she missed your father. - Posted by: Brian Kushka (Family Friend) on: Feb 27, 2021
