NADIA HUMENIUK It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden, yet peaceful passing of Nadia Humeniuk, wife, mom, babcha, and friend, surrounded by her family at the Seven Oaks Hospital, on June 30, 2006 at the age of 71 years. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Fedir, of 50 years; sons George (Deborah), Roman, Miron; and grandson Mathew; friends and family both close and distant throughout Canada and her native Ukraine. Nadia was predeceased by her mother and father, Anna and Andrij Zinchuk and sister Luba Sribnyj. Nadia was born in Ostryh, Volyn, Ukraine in 1935. She immigrated to Winnipeg with her mother and sister in 1951 where she met her future husband. Nadia and Fedir were married June 23, 1956. Her involvement in the Ukrainian community was extensive. She sang in the Dumka choir and the church choir, and was very active in the organization SUM for many years where she had a flair and talent for stage presentations and where she conducted her very own choir. Shortly after her arrival in Winnipeg she became a seamstress working in the garment industry and advancing to the position of forelady. Nadia then entered the retail industry where she retired from Laura Secord after 25 years. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 4 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 5 also at the Cathedral with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lubamir Banias, Bohdan Scribny, George Sharaburak, David Skromeda, Randy Skromeda and Chris Woloshyn. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Diabetes Foundation or The Ukrainian Youth Association. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff of both Seven Oaks and Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion. Vichnaya Pamyat, Rest in Peace. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
