JOE M. HUNNIE 1937 2006 It is with great sadness we announce the tragic passing of Joe Hunnie on June 29, 2006 at the age of 69. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Sonia; his son Carey (Sheryl); daughters, Wendy (Lorne), Cindy (Bruce), Jill (Ray); grandchildren Amber, Craig, Jordan, Samantha, Josh, Laurysa, Travis. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Walter (June), Ed (Ollie) and Les; sister Ruth and many other relatives, friends and his furry friends, Daytona, Marty, Sadie and Patches. Joe was employed by Winnipeg Hydro for 34 years, retiring in 1995. He kept busy in his retirement by curling, bowling, playing baseball, fishing, and walking in Bird's Hill Park. Joe also loved to spend time at the cabin at Falcon Lake. His yard work was legendary. The bus trips with Sonia to Mahnomen were also very special to him. Joe enjoyed carpentry - anything from building cabinets to helping build homes. Anyone who met Joe was treated to a joke and a hearty laugh. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to: the many people who stopped at the scene to help, the firefighters and paramedics, emergency staff at Concordia Hospital and Chaplain John Friesen. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law Lorne Armette, Bruce Stark, Ray McGuire, grandson Craig Armette and nephews Paul Memka and Jeff Memka. Honorary Pallbearer will be Sheryl Hunnie. Flowers are gratefully accepted, as they were one of Joe's passions. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Joe's memory to M.S. Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
