ANN WOODHOUSE Ann passed peacefully on July 3, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by sons Terry and Rick (Sharon); grandchildren Ken (Lisa), Craig, Grant (Selena) and Karen (Jason) Penman; great grandchildren Christopher, Keegan, Ryan, Sheydon and Madison; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Ann was predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Justina; brothers Peter and John; daughter in law Cathy, and by Jack, her beloved husband of 49 years. Born in Winnipeg on January 3, 1909, Mom spent her entire life here, attending Isaac Newton and St. John's High Schools. Her life's journey was travelled with grace, kindness and generosity in abundance, as evidenced by the many lives she touched over the years. Friendships were considered a life long gift, a gift to be constantly nurtured. A strong work ethic and the importance of education were part of Mom's core and these values were instilled in her children from an early age, sometimes requiring firm encouragement. A natural at entertaining, Mom was happiest with a house full of family and friends, especially at Christmas when she and Jack would host their renowned Christmas Eve parties. Fond memories of Mom's baking talents included wonderful apple pies and the world's best shortbread to which she often treated us. Although the last few years were frustrating as she was unable to lead the active life that was so much a part of her, Mom did manage to retain her sense of humour, often delighting family and Riverview staff alike with her witty retorts. Goodbye Mom, we were truly blessed to have had you in our lives. The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff at 3C, Riverview Health Centre for their loving and compassionate care of Mom over the last several months. A memorial service celebrating Ann's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7 at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann's memory to Cancercare Manitoba Fdn., 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, R3E 0V9.
