GRANT BOOTH LIVINGSTONE 1922 - 2006 2 Timothy 4:7, 8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith... On Wednesday, June 28, 2006, after a period of declining health, Grant entered into his everlasting rest in the Ancient of Days. Grant, born in Halifax moved with his family to Vancouver at an early age. A veteran of the Second World War, he attended U.B.C. studying International Political Science. While serving as President of the Student Union, he spearheaded student democratic and veterans' rights. After a life-changing salvation experience by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour, he turned his interest, intellect and energy to Biblical Studies and service. The Land and People of Israel acted as a catalyst in Grant meeting and marrying Barbara (nee Thomson - former resident of Winnipeg) in 1968. Together they served the ministry and congregation of Glad Tidings Temple in Vancouver which came out of the 1948 North Battleford Latter Rain Revival. They were ordained and in 1975 were called to Israel, where they served in the news media for 30 years. Grant, an uncompromising, zealous advocate for Israel and True Biblical Zionism, travelled to many countries in the Middle East, India, Uganda, Europe, America, and Canada as speaker, writer, and broadcaster with Barbara. Among their many travels Grant championed and led Christian Concern for Lebanon . Upon the Livingstone's return to Canada last fall during the Year of the Veteran , Grant was hospitalized November 11, 2005. Predeceased by his parents, William and Edith, and elder sister Kay, Grant is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara; two sisters, Caroline and Mary; nieces, nephews and cousins. Family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to all who took care of Grant from Seven Oaks Hospital; Department of Veterans Affairs; 911 Emergency Services; Manitoba Home Care and caregivers; Winnipeg Regional Health Authority; MDA Equipment and Suppliers; and Assistive Health Care. A special thank-you to the Mishpacha from the Messianic Community Teekva Chaya and loving friends around the world who supported Grant through notes, prayers, and words of encouragement. A celebration of Grant's life will take place on Friday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Living Hope, 235 Enniskillen Ave., Winnipeg. Interment will follow at Green Acres. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grant's name may be made to M.E.A., P.O. Box 1292, Calgary, AB, T2P 2L2. Rock Fontaine Funeral Director is in charge of arrangements 204 223-2576 or 1-866 499-2601.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dear Barbara and family: Well, Grant has gone home to the Lord and I wish to send my prayers and love for you at your loss. He was a fearless, learned champion of Israel and his Saviour - an unusual mixture of humility, gentleness, forthrightness, and dedication. A true friend who always cared enough to speak his mind, to pass the torch even when his strength was declining. May you now know the worth of your life to God, Grant. I miss and love you. - Posted by: Jan Constantinescu (Friend) on: Jul 12, 2006
