MADELEINE GEORGETTE VILLENEUVE (nee CARIGNAN) With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Madeleine at the Maples Personal Care Home on July 4, 2006. Madeleine was born in St. Claude, MB, on June 28, 1916 and took the Lord's hand at the age of 90. She will be reunited with her husband of 64 years, Jean Emile Villeneuve, who predeceased her on November 7, 2003. She was also predeceased by her parents Joseph and Marie-Anne Carignan, her sisters Claire Gauthier and Sister Thérèse Carignan, SP, as well as her older brother Gaston (Bert) Carignan. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Paul (Linda) of Surrey BC, Marcel (Marianne) of Oakville, ON, George (Lillian) of White Rock BC; and her two daughters Marie-Jeanne Buccini (Ivano) and Renée Harsant (Ernie) of Winnipeg. Also left to cherish her memory are her surviving sisters, Gabrielle Abraham, Sister Françoise Carignan, SNJM, Sister Maria Carignan, SNJM, Alice Carignan, brothers Jean Marcel Carignan and Louis Carignan, 10 grand-children, four great-grand-daughters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Throughout her life Madeleine possessed a joie de vivre and lived her life spreading joy to those who knew and loved her. She surrounded her family with her calm and kind nature, never complaining when things were difficult. She graduated from Marvel Beauty School in 1931 starting her career in hairstyling which she practiced for over 50 years. She also briefly worked as a Health Care Aide. Until recent years, Madeleine was always active, enjoying travelling, roller skating, dancing, cross country skiing, sewing, playing cards, bowling, baking, making puzzles, playing Bingo and reading. She led a full and rewarding life. Madeleine was a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, sister, aunt and daughter, and was always there to care for and comfort those in need. Her great wit, wonderful sense of humour and sweet smile will be greatly missed by the family and friends she loved so dearly. A sincere thank you to the One West staff at the Maples Personal Care Home for all the care Mom received in the past five years. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our special angel, Tante Maria for faithfully bringing communion and spiritual guidance to Mom. Donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
