Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWANDA CAROLINE (BABE) SHINGLETON Peacefully in her sleep, after many courageous battles, Wanda Shingleton passed away on July 3, 2006 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, her family at her side. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Jack; son William (Marilyn) of Maple Ridge, BC; daughter Linda (Fred) of Winnipeg; six grandchildren, Charity, Aaron, Jamie and Taylor of Maple Ridge, BC; Kristopher and Laura of Winnipeg; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Baby Grace of Maple Ridge, BC; brother Brian (Roberta) and many other nieces and nephews. Wanda, affectionately known as Babe , was born in Winnipeg on March 28, 1925. Her early years were spent in Selkirk, MB. She came to work in Winnipeg during the Second World War where she met the man she would share her life with for over 60 years. Wanda enjoyed bowling and bingo, gardening and playing cards. She loved the cottage at Sandy Hook and also trips abroad to England and the Caribbean. She did work outside the home at the old Dominion store on Main Street and for a large catering company. She also did some small functions on her own. Her fancy sandwiches always drew a crowd to help and her perogies were second only to Grandma Johnson's. She lived her life for others, her heart and home were always open , her generosity, at times, overwhelming. Other people always came first and this was returned to her many times over in her later years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff on Unit 3, 5th floor, Seven Oaks Hospital for their kindness during Wanda's illness. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in St. Clements Church, Selkirk, MB. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or to a charity of one's choice.
