CLARA SPITAELS (nee DE BACKER) May 31, 1919 July 3, 2006 Peacefully at Concordia Place, Winnipeg, MB our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Clara Spitaels, formerly of Holland and Bruxelles, MB passed away at the age of 87 years, beloved wife of the late Andre Spitaels. Left to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memory are her four daughters, Germaine (Allard) Van Den Bussche (Maurice); Madelene Podolsky; Elaine Kalyta (Phil); and Bernice Spitaels (Ed Deneweth); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Suzanne and daughter Christina; Leanne (Greg); Jocelyn (Leon) and daughter Arianna; Charlene (Jess); Andrea (Justin); Melissa; Kyle; Curtis; Kevin; Lyndsay; Allison; Laura; sisters-in-law, Gertie De Backer and Clara De Backer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Clara was predeceased by her husband Andre Spitaels in 1980; sons-in-law, Ray Allard and Myron Podolsky; parents, Jules and Marie De Backer; step-father Gerard Goring; brothers, Fred, Gerard and Maurice De Backer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Romaine and Albert Van De Spiegle; Remi Spitaels and Germaine Spitaels. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family. Prayers will be said at Budz Funeral Chapel, Holland, MB on Friday, July 7, at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Bruxelles, MB on Saturday, July 8, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in the St. Gerard Parish Cemetery, Bruxelles, MB. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Clara's memory to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada, Suite 302, 171 Donald Street,.
