GLADYS JOHNSTON
Date of Passing: Jul 03, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS JOHNSTON Peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2006 at the Riverview Health Centre, Gladys Johnston, aged 86 years, widow of Lincoln, passed away with her family by her side. She is survived by one son Douglas James Johnston (Tannia); daughter Nancy Gillen (Dave); grandchildren, James and Kathryn; son-in-law Paul; and one brother Sid Stimpson. Gladys was predeceased by her parents, two brothers Herbert and Harold, and two sisters May and Margaret. Gladys had a special attachment to her many friends and colleagues during her years of employment at Eaton's. This is where many special friendships began and continued to this very day. Gladys was a loving mother and homemaker. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Raising her family in St. Vital made it easy to become involved in the community. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, July 8, at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway with a reception to follow. Over the last five years Alzheimer's disease robbed our mother of her intellect, her memory and her facility for language, but it could not take her personality. She wouldn't let it. She remained her kind, friendly and cheerful self almost until the end. For this, we are grateful. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Riverview for their care and concern shown to our mother during her stay there over the past five years. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gladys may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Riverview Health Centre. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway 783-7211
