Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEUGENE (GENE) PATRICK OLSON Eugene (Gene) Patrick Olson passed away on June 11, 2006 with his family by his side. He was the first child born to Pearly and Helen Olson on March 13, 1933. He worked various jobs as a mechanic at various garages in Winnipeg, in the bush in Northern Ontario, sold Raleigh products, hauled coal, worked for McMillan Blodell as a Press Operator and at Wholesale Heating Supplies where he retired as Branch Manager in Brandon. A lot of his friends knew Gene as Olie. He loved to go golfing, fishing and his bus trips to the casinos. He also loved his cribbage nights with his two buddies Jake and Rudy. Gene looked forward to seeing his grandchildren and having all his family together. Gene leaves to cherish his memory his wife Margaret; his aunt Catherine Agnes McGreevey; brother Donald (Donna); sisters, Pearl Struth, Sylvia (Dennis) Kolden; daughters, Helen (Bob) Brinn, Koralie (George) Cockle, their children Matthew, George Jr., Randy; sons, Paul (Penny) their children Tony and Kristen, David (Kathy) their daughter Kellie. Stepchildren Steve (Sharon) Porteous and family, David (Marlene) Porteous and family, Dacey Doe and family, Murray (Mary) Porteous and family, Mike (Marion) Porteous and family. Gene was predeceased by his parents Pearly and Helen and brother-in-law James Struth. The Ceremony to Celebrate Gene's Life was held at Memories Chapel, on Saturday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Orton Anderson officiated. Interment followed at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Gene to a charity of choice.
