ELSIE LYDIA CHILDERHOSE (nee MUNT) On Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Riverview Health Centre, Elsie Lydia Childerhose passed away peacefully at the age of 76, after years of courageously battling cancer. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Childerhose; parents, Daniel and Elsie Munt; brothers, Harry and Daniel Munt; nephew, Kris Munt, and niece-by-marriage, Kim Munt. She is survived by her brother, Ernest Munt; her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great-grandnephew; as well as her special friend, Syd Lester and his family. Elsie married Dan Robert Childerhose on September 17, 1956. During the years she spent working as an administrative assistant, she selflessly cared for her husband Dan, who battled Multiple Sclerosis most of their married life. Elsie also devotedly cared for her father and brother, Harry, during their final years. She retired from the Winnipeg School Division in June 1989, one month after the death of her husband. Elsie was recently asked what her greatest achievement in life was, to which she answered her Golden Years. Those Golden Years were spent in the constant companionship of her best friend, Syd Lester. She and Syd enjoyed spending much of their time together at Lester Beach. Together they square and round danced, six and seven nights a week, often traveling across Canada and the U.S. Elsie was the secretary for the Square and Round Dance Association in 1995. Elsie was very active in her church, Christ Lutheran, where she was the treasurer for six years. Among her other activities, she enjoyed working in the kitchen with all her friends, especially Lydia Gudz. The family would like to thank the doctors, home palliative care staff and the staff of Riverview Health Centre, especially the staff on 3E, for the love, care and support received by both Elsie and the family. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elsie may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca
