ETHEL ANDERSON Peacefully on the afternoon of July 4, 2006, at Misericordia Health Centre, Ethel Anderson passed away at age 89. Ethel was born on October 4, 1916 in Portadown, in the county of Armagh, Northern Ireland, youngest daughter to Robert and Mary Anderson. Left to cherish her memory are her two nephews, Adrian (friend Greet) of Calgary and Mervyn (Judy) of Winnipeg; four great-nieces and nephew, Andrew (Audra), Susan (Gus), Janet (Sean), Karen from Bryan, TX and special friend David Harris. Ethel was predeceased by her sister Florence (2005), brother-in-law Henry (1990), her father Robert in 1919, and her mother Mary in 1986. Ethel immigrated to Canada in 1956 with her Mother and quickly settled into life in her new country. Working at Washtronics from 1956 until her retirement in 1986, she was an avid supporter of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers following each of the last 50 seasons with great interest. Five pin bowling was another passion as she bowled in the Irish Protestant League for many years, also being their Secretary/Treasurer. Ethel always remembered her Irish heritage and was President of the Irish Protestant Association from 1973-1974. Ethel never forgot her birth place and spent many enjoyable holidays back in Ireland, visiting with friends and numerous relatives. Ethel held a special place in many hearts, we will miss her more than words can express but know that she is with God and at last free from pain, our love will know no end. Many thanks to the staff of Deer Lodge Hospital and Misericordia Health Centre for their loving care over the last eight months, she was very grateful. A very very special thank you to her dearest friend David for all his tenderness, devotion and for his many visits during this time, as it brightened up her days. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 8, 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 E at Navin Road with the Rev. Kolleen Karlowsky-Clark officiating. Pallbearers will be Frank Blahnik, David Blahnik, Bob MacCallum and Andrew Savage. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
