ROBERTA JEAN KEYES (MCQUEEN) Sadly, Roberta Jean Keyes (McQueen), born August 17, 1922, died suddenly on July 3, 2006. She was predeceased one week by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Wyatt Keyes. She is survived by three loving children; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Deborah; daughters Nancy and Barbara; and loving grandchildren Lauren and Douglas as well as family in Winnipeg, MB; Gimli MB; and California. She was educated at the University of Manitoba (M.D.) and University of Toronto (F.R.C.P.(C), Child Adolescent Psychiatry). Roberta was the Director of Mental Health for the City of Vancouver for many years. Most recently she was a consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for the North Shore Mental Health Department. Roberta was a caring individual who always put the needs of those around her ahead of herself. She was an avid reader, needlepoint worker and indoor gardener. She was a kind person and a gentle soul. Despite several years of increasing health problems her positive attitude and caring for others remained an example for all those who knew her. She touched many lives during her time with us and she will be greatly missed. Her suffering is over and her soul now rests in peace. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jennifer Walker, Home Care Nurses, Home Support Staff and Royalty Staff for their wonderful and steadfast care. Special thanks to Vanja and Barbara 2 for their extra love and care. There will be a private celebration of her life at a later date. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to the Mental Health Society of BC, the BC Cancer Agency or the BC Heart Stroke Foundation.
