GERMAINE (GERRY) ANNE LEROYE (nee BRUNELLE) August 19, 1950 July 6, 2006 Peacefully, on Thursday, July 6, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer, Gerry passed away at the Pine Falls Hospital with her family by her side. Remaining to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Jim; sisters, Louise (John), Georgette (Peter) and Judy; brothers, Brian (Susan) and Leslie; daughters, Judy, Kim (Pat), Dawn (Tom); son Michael; grandchildren, Michelle (Devin), Jason, Christopher (Sheena), Jessica and Branden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gerry was predeceased by her parents and brother. Gerry was born in St. Paul, AB on August 19, 1950. After graduating from high school she worked as a Nurses Aid at the Winnipeg Municipal Hospitals. After graduating as a R.N. from Misericordia Hospital in 1975, Gerry worked at the Health Sciences Centre until 1976 followed by a long, dedicated career as Nurse in Charge at Little Black River and Hollow Water. Gerry served as President of the Professional Institute of Public Service of Canada Nursing Group for fifteen years, working tirelessly on pay equity and improving conditions for Nurses working in isolated First Nations communities across Canada. Gerry also acted as a Relief Nurse in many Northern and East Side Manitoba First Nations communities. Gerry's passions included RV'ing, golfing and of course, her dogs. Gerry was a very compassionate and giving person, establishing many dear friendships wherever she went. She will be missed by us all. Thanks to all the Health Care Staff who looked after Gerry during her illness. A special thanks to Dr. Pat Harris, staff of NEHA and the Oncology Department at the Concordia Hospital The family also extends their appreciation to friends and neighbours for their love and support during Gerry's illness. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15 at the Great Falls Community Centre.
