KATHERINE BLATZ (KLASSEN)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE BLATZ (nee KLASSEN) Peacefully, on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Grace Hospice at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her husband Abram, in 1995, her parents, three sisters and one brother. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Wilma (David) Kropla, granddaughters; Trisha, Kimberly and Amanda Kropla, her son Melvin (Peggy) Blatz, her grandson Brandon Blatz, two sisters Anne Klassen, Susie (Peter) Klassen, three brothers; Phil (Linda) Klassen, Abe (Eleanor) Klassen, Ed (Margaret) Klassen and sister-in-law Tina Klassen and Eva Brown as well as numerous nieces an nephews. Katherine grew up in the Lowe Farm/Kane district, married Abe Blatz in 1951 and together farmed and then moved the family to Winnipeg in 1962. Mom worked at the U of M for 15 years before her retirement in 1978. They spent their retirement years enjoying visits with their grandchildren. Following Dad's passing she moved into Bethel Place, where she enjoyed Bethel fellowship. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 13 at 1:30 pm with viewing one half prior to the service at Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter Ave., viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Cemetery. Katherine was a 22 year survivor of cancer, in lieu of flowers donations are gratefully accepted for Grace Hospice Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, R3J 3M7. The family would like to offer their sincerest gratitude to Marg, Donna, Tiffany, Gaye, Agnes, Jackie and other staff at Grace Hospice for their care and comfort during Mom's stay.
