CRYSTAL LAYNE KOHLER Tragically on Saturday, July 8, 2006, our most precious and dearly beloved daughter and sister, Crystal Layne Kohler, passed on into the loving arms of Jesus at the age of 20 years. Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Leonard and Gladys Kohler; younger sister and brother, Melody and Devin; grandparents, Egen and Mary Kohler and Mary Dewald; her very special great-aunty Frieda and other numerous family and friends. She was predeceased by her grandpa Gordon Dewald on January 31, 2005. Crystal was born in Winnipeg, MB on February 21, 1986 and grew up in Fraserwood. She attended the Gimli Early / Middle Years School, then later Inwood School from where she graduated. At present, she was entering her third year as a History / Music student at Brandon University and was so much looking forward to her goal on beginning a teaching career in Alaska. She truly loved living and attending university in Brandon where she had made numerous friends and at present was preparing to move into an apartment with her friends, Brittany and Candace. Crystal had a zest for life and a spark for energy that was totally unimaginable, and especially loved to sing, whether it be at concerts, festivals, performances, karoake, the church youth choir, or with the Christmas carolers. She participated in the Last Prizes and Ministers conferences, attended Music Camp at the International Peace Gardens, Beaver Creek Bible Camp and was actively involved in her schools student council, newspaper committee, grad committee and started a drama club where she truly adored working with the younger children and thought of them as her kids. She won placement to the provincial singing competitions twice in a row. Crystal had a laugh that could start a whole room bursting in laughter. She loved parties, entertaining, dancing, singing and reading and always looked forward to large family gatherings. For the past three years, she had been in the process of writing her own book. Crystal lived her life to the fullest and touched the hearts of all that knew her. Her big hugs will be greatly missed by all. Prayers will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Gimli, MB, along Highway No. 9 on Thursday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be on Friday, July 14 at 11:30 a.m. also at St. Michael's Church with viewing prior to service. Interment will be at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Fraserwood, MB. Pallbearers will be her uncles, Curtis Sims, Bruce Marteinsson, David Einarson, Robert Dewald, Terry Romanchuk and Rick Kishka. Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in person to a scholarship fund at the Arborg Credit Union or Gimli Credit Union or mailed to the Crystal Kohler Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 212, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. We love you Sweetie, and we will miss you so very much. You meant the world to us. Til we meet again in Heaven. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
