HARBHAJAN SINGH JOHAL 1943-2006 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Master Harbhajan Singh Johal on July 9, 2006 at Riverview Health Center with his family by his side following a short battle with Liver Cancer. Born May 10, 1943, he grew up and lived most of his life in the small village of Johal and later on to Allarpind in Punjab, India where he taught Junior School. He established himself and his family to be one of the highly regarded and respected farming families in that area. He was also the Sarpanch of the village for a number of years, the throne he took over from his father Late S. Kabul Singh Johal. He was also a member of Block Summit (Bhunga) for many years and was the key factor in making his village a model village. He also helped many people with different matters be it concerning agricultural, legal or personal. The way he managed his family, teaching and farming life was exemplary. He retired as a teacher in 1992. He moved to Winnipeg, Canada in November 1999 where he spent most of his time enjoying his grandchildren. His last few years he researched Homoeopathy Medicine extensively, it was his favorite pass time besides reading all the Punjabi newspapers published every week. Surviving are his mother Smt.
