Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA MINER HOME AT LAST We are all God's children From the morning hour of birth He lets us live and laugh and love And have our day on Earth; He guards us through the afternoon Till sunsets rays are cast Then one by one, with gentle words He calls us home at last. - Phyllis Culp Mabry It is with great sadness that we report the death of our mother, wife, mentor: Patricia Joan Miner (nee Scott) on July 10, 2006. Born July 17, 1924, she was predeceased by her mother Geraldine Scott, father George Scott and son Paul Scott Miner (in infancy). She leaves to mourn husband Stanley Miner; sons, Scott Gordon Miner and Patrick David Miner; as well as her faithful friends, Molly and Paws (cats) and Buddie (dog). She was raised in St. Vital at 40 Stranmillis Ave., attended St. Vital Schools, and graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate. She was married June 5, 1950 to Stanley Robert Miner at St. Matthew's Church and took up residence in East Kildonan shortly thereafter. Patricia contributed much of her life to the care and support of those less fortunate, serving in the Red Cross VAD during the Second World War and generously supporting numerous charities. She also loved animals, donating her time and financial support to a variety of organizations focused on their welfare. While employed by the City of Winnipeg as a swimming instructor, Auntie Pat as she was known to most of her students, taught many of East Kildonan's children to swim and helped many of its senior citizens remain active with the exercise programs she developed and led. She was a remarkable woman with an immense depth of interest; prepared to enthusiastically debate virtually any topic at the drop of a tea bag. For her friends, husband and children she was an amused audience, a thoughtful critic, and a devoted pal. We shall all miss her greatly. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave. (at Charles Street) on Friday July 14 at 10:00 a.m. Cremated remains to be placed with her Mother, Father and Infant Son at St. Vital Cemetery at a private service. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to make a donation to D'Arcy's Animal Rescue Centre (www.darcysarc.ca) or the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter (www.petrescueshelter.com) in her memory.
