BERTA HARRISON Mrs. Berta C. Harrison (née Gazley) passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 102 years. Born in Victoria, BC in 1904, she lived in SW Ontario in her early childhood years and moved to Vegreville, AB for her later teen years. After graduating from the University of Alberta in 1927, she taught school in Vegreville and then married Robert Harrison in 1929. They moved to Medicine Hat in 1930 where she lived until 1986 when she came to Manitoba to be closer to her family. Berta was always active throughout her life. She continued to teach part time as a substitute teacher and returned to full time teaching in 1956, retiring in 1970. She loved politics and loved to play bridge which she played until well into her nineties. Berta was predeceased by Robert in 1970. She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Walter Harrison (Ruth) of Deep River, ON; three granddaughters, Gwen Coates (Blair), Karen Gannon (Darryl) and Linda Harrison (Darcey Harder); and her great-grandchildren, Samantha, Carson and Trevor Coates, Kiara and Kyler Gannon, and Lily and Liam Harder. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (Aubrey Street entrance). Interment will be at a later date in the family plot in Medicine Hat, AB. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
