DONALD BARKER GREENWOOD 1925 - 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Greenwood on Thursday, July 13. Left with wonderful memories are his beloved wife Connie, of 56 years; his son David (Rena) Greenwood; daughter Pam (Bert) Pescitelli and grandchildren, Allison (Chris) Finch, Matthew (Jacine) Greenwood, Carolyn Greenwood, Andrea (Ryan) Roberts and Alyssa Pescitelli and newborn great-grandson Lucas Finch (four weeks). Don is also survived by his two sisters in England, Edna (Stan) Bownes and Dorothy (Harry) Dixon. Don was born on March 20, 1925 in Todmorden, England. He joined the Royal Navy at the outbreak of the Second World War and travelled to many areas of the world serving his country. After the war, Don immigrated to Canada. Two days out on the ocean voyage he met his future wife, Connie. They married in 1948 and took up residence in Winnipeg. Don's working career spanned 40 years with Imperial Oil and Bristol Aerospace in Winnipeg. Upon retirement, he had many enjoyable hours volunteering at the Winnipeg Aviation Museum and helping his family, friends and neighbours. Don's thirst for knowledge, inventions and stories will always be remembered by his family and friends and we will miss them greatly. A funeral service will not be held as Don's wishes were for all to remember him in their own special way. A private interment with immediate family will take place. Special thanks to the 2nd floor ICU and staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and exceptional efforts. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's name can be made to the St. Boniface Research Foundation, 409 Tache Street, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
