MARGARET AGNES (GRETCHEN) KINGSLEY 1916 - 2006 Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Gretchen died peacefully on Sunday, July 16, in her 90th year. Gretchen was born in Stratford, ON, raised in Tavistock, ON, and lived most of her life in Kitchener, ON. She was predeceased by her loving husband Lieutenant Alfred Kingsley, in 1944; her parents, Emerson and Pauline Kalbfleisch; her brothers, Paul and Julian; and her longtime friend Stewart MacMillan. She is survived by her son Roger (Carol McPhaden); her grandsons, Andrew (Allison Stonehouse), Paul, and Michael (Cora Nadeau); her stepgrandchildren, Michael and Lisa McPhaden; her great-grandchildren, Lily, Dakotah, Akira, Gretchen and Jack; her brother Walter (Charlotte); and sister Kathleen Forsythe (Hugh); her sister-in-law Estelle Bock; and brother-in-law Ralph Searth; and many nieces and nephews. Gretchen spent her working life as a teacher for the Kitchener School Board. The early days were spent in the elementary grades, and she enjoyed having former students drop in to visit her throughout her life. She was a Special Education specialist during the second part of her career. Gretchen spent many happy hours volunteering in a variety of ways, including work with the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital Women's Auxiliary and the K-W Art Gallery Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gretchen's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota St., at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 20. It's a long time, but I want to offer my condolences to the family for this loss. I knew Mike fairly well in school and was acquainted with his brothers.
