BEATRICE (BETTY) LILLIAN STEWART (nee STONE) JANUARY 9, 1923 - July 16, 2006 It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Stewart announces her peaceful passing on July 16, 2006 at the Grace Hospital. Mom is survived by her four boys, Ted, Barry, Ron, and Neil; daughters-in-law, Val, Nancy, Donna, and Liisa; grandchildren, Chrystal, Dustin, Janine, Ian, Patrick, and Pauliina; sister Doreen Balkwill; sisters-in-law Lenore, Elsie, Audrey along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by our Dad (Jim) in 1998 and by seven brothers and sisters. Mom was born and raised in Brandon. She married our Dad in 1943 and they ended up settling in Winnipeg. Mom worked in retail stores mostly with her last tenure of 17 years being with Baldy Northcott Sporting Goods. Mom loved working at the store and enjoyed taking care of customers, especially the kids. Special thanks go out to Heather Ritchie and the terrific staff of Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts, Dr. Michael Stephenson of the Assiniboine Clinic, and the staff of the Grace Hospital. . Mom felt very fortunate to have you as caregivers and appreciated your efforts in taking care of her. Special thanks go out to Olavi and Raili Kokko for welcoming our Mom into their family events and to special friends Doreen Peever, Helen Williams, Esther Campbell, Nora, and Edna for their kind friendship. Mom felt truly lucky and blessed to have you as extended family and friends. Per Mom's wishes, she requested cremation and did not want a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom's memory to a charity of your choice.
