CAROL JOY YOUNG (nee SIMPSON) Peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Carol Joy Young passed away at the age of 68 years. She was predeceased by husband Eldon (Don) and long time partner Jerry McDougall; also her parents Howard and Rhoda Simpson. Surviving are her loving children and grandchildren, Wendy (Ben) Toenders and grandson Garrett, Larry (Doreen) and grandsons, Cole and Brandon; Karen Gay (Michael) Trach and grandchildren Bonnie, Steven and Lyndi, Shelley Watson and fiancé Ken and grandsons Jason and Shaun, Sandy Young (Howard) and grandchildren Jordon, Sarah and David, Rodney Young, Cory Young (Connie) and granddaughters Jessica and Lainey. Also great grandchildren Justin and Kylie Watson, Emily, Abigail and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carol was born and educated in Winnipeg. She was employed in the Advertising Department of the Winnipeg Free Press for 32 years taking early retirement in 1998. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion Branch 61 in Winnipeg Beach, MB and during her dedicated years of service she was a Treasurer and received her Past Officers badge. Carol was also a member of the Gateway Foundation of Winnipeg Beach, MB. Carol enjoyed her last few years living in her log cabin home in Matlock, MB along with her pet cat Smokey whom she loved dearly. In 2005 she moved back to Winnipeg. A special thank you to cousin Sonya Dodd who supported mom in her times of need and sorrow. Funeral services to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21 at Gilbarts Funeral Home in Gimli, MB with interment to follow at the Winnipeg Beach Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the Royal Canadian Legion in Winnipeg Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 would be deeply appreciated.
