PHOEBE FREDRICKA STANDBROOK (BYRON)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHOEBE FREDRICKA STANDBROOK (nee BYRON) Phoebe Fredricka Standbrook (nee Byron), was born August 17, 1903. She was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1978 and by her parents and nine brothers and sisters. She had two sons, Wayne who resides in North Battleford, SK and Grant who lives in Bangor ME. Phoebe also had grandchildren, Darcie Kzyzyk and Misty Lavertu, both residing in Saskatoon; Kelly Scott in Toronto, Brett Scott in Winnipeg; Jill Bruns in Edina, MN, Todd Standbrook in Chaska, MN and John Standbrook in St. Louis, MO. Phoebe, also has 11 great-grandchildren. Phoebe's parents were the first settlers in Swan River, arriving from Iceland. Phoebe and her nine siblings worked on the farm until she came to Winnipeg in 1930. She and Harry married in 1934 and lived in Winnipeg with their two sons. Phoebe worked for many years at the Canadian Immigration Services and retired in 1960. Phoebe loved to travel to visit her many relatives throughout Canada and the United States. She also visited The Holy Land, Spain and Hawaii and true to her kind nature, got on a bus at age 90 to assist with hurricane victims in Florida. In recent years Phoebe lived at the Lions Manor and The Luther Home. Phoebe was a wonderful lady who is now in a place she has been preparing for each day of her life. Her faith was her strength and guiding light. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 3:15 p.m. at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley St. THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD.
