Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIA JEAN BARNOWICH (nee LINNICK) December 25, 1906 - July 17, 2006 Peacefully, Sophia passed away in Winnipeg on July 17, 2006. Born in Brandon to Paul and Anna Linnick (Gowerluk), the family later moved to Cowan, MB where Sophia grew up. She worked in Winnipeg before marrying Andrew and beginning life as a resourceful, creative, tireless wife and farmer. Predeceased by her parents; her husband Andrew; sons, Harry and William; siblings, Mary (Field), Fred, Harry and William Linnick. Beloved mother of Edward (Lois) of Florida, Edna Kereluk of Picton, ON, Jean Kyryluk of Red Lake, ON, Fred (Gloria) of Wanganui, New Zealand, Nancy Kostiuk, Elaine Winters of Winnipeg; cherished grandmother of Dale, Carol, Ted, Denise, May, Perry, Lloyd, Sheldon and Trevor; honoured great-grandmother of Mark and Paul Doyon, Corrie and Brittany Botterill, Paul and Shawn Kostiuk, and Auntie Jean to numerous nieces and nephews. Her love and nurturing were bountifully evident in all her relationships. Children had a special place in her heart and she made them feel loved and cherished. Her farm in Cowan was her favourite place, restful and peaceful in her retirement, and a magical place for her grandchildren to visit. She was our inspiration and will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral service will be in Cowan, MB at the Cowan Community Centre with the Rev. Nigel Packwood on Monday, July 31, at 2:00 p.m. followed by inurnment in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Cowan. A celebration of her life will be at the Holiday Inn Astoria, 2935 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, Thursday, July 27, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The family thanks the skilled staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for their care and compassion during Sophia's two-year residency.
