MARGARET ANN (MARDI) MCKINNON (nee FULFORD) Unexpectedly, but peacefully, on the morning of Sunday, July 16, 2006, Mardi, beloved wife of Frank, passed into the arms of her heavenly Father, at her summer residence in Ponemah Beach. Mardi leaves to mourn beside her soul mate of 46 years Frank; her siblings, Art Fulford (London, ON), Evelyn MacCready (Winnipeg) and Jim Fulford (Pat) (Potomac Maryland). She also leaves two special nieces, ( Surrogate Children ) Diane (Dean Michelle and Holly) and Elizabeth (Jim Ryan and Corey) and many other nieces and nephews, as well as her mother-in-law Gertrude McKinnon and brother-in-law Bill McKinnon. She was predeceased by her mother and father Christina and Philip Fulford; her father-in-law Leo McKinnon; her brother Warren; brother-in-law David MacCready; and sisters-in-law, Sybil Fulford and Eugene McKinnon. Mardi was born and grew up in the Elmwood/East Kildonan area and went to Glenelm, Polson Schools and Lord Selkirk High School followed by Success Business College and employment at the City of Winnipeg (Welfare Department) for 3 years, at which time she became a full time homemaker in order to keep her weekends totally free for camping and her special nieces, who had been left without a father at a very young age. Mardi and Frank travelled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S.A. in 3 travel trailers that they had built between 1961 and 1983, when they built a motor home in which they hit the road at every available time. They constructed their cottage (now a year round home) in 1972 and have resided there each summer since Frank retired in 1993. Mardi was fully involved in everything Frank undertook, much to Frank's pleasure his Masonic Lodge (Acacia #111), Khartum Shrine (Ladies Aux.) and the Dunnottar Ratepayers' Assoc. She was a persons' person and much respected and loved by all who knew her and particularly in the last few years at Ponemah Beach. She was extremely proud of her British heritage and possessed a most loving charm with everyone she met, was conscious of current events, was an avid reader and crossword puzzle player. She had a delightfully dry wit and an extremely mischievious nature. Her legacy will be the success and love of her very special nieces (Surrogate Daughters, Diane and Elizabeth) and their families, Frank's family, as well as many, many extremely close personal friends of both her and Frank, who have expressed their extreme love and kindness over the years and particularly to Frank at this time of his grief. Their thoughtfulness will never be forgotten. Mardi will be cremated and buried with her brother prior to her funeral on Tuesday, July 25 at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave., at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dave Love (a personal friend) officiating. Frank sends his special love to Neil Bardal, Dave Love, Bob James and Sid Denby for all their help along the way, and Joannie Halas and Bob Campbell in particular, for all their assistance and care at the time of Mardi's passing and since. He will be forever grateful to all of them. Her most memorable attribute in Frank's eyes was her abiding faith in her Saviour and her trust that she would see Him and be with Him at her passing. We will miss her so much. In lieu of floral tributes it would be Mardi's wish that you consider her favourite charity, The Lighthouse Mission, 669 Main St., Winnipeg R3B 1E3.
