Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADRIANA (ADA) RICKETS (née HAAK) May 2, 1908 July 19, 2006 It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Adriana Rickets, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend on Wednesday, July 19, 2006. She will be sadly missed, lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts. Adriana was born in Zealand, Holland on May 2, 1908 and immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of 8. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Jean Kellendonk, grandchildren: Wayne Wilks (Linda) great-granddaughter Nicole, David Kellendonk (Josephine) great-grandchildren, Peter and Christopher, Kit Kellendonk (Corrine) great-grandchildren, Jason and Michael, and Cindy Kellendonk-Zarecki (Tom) great-grandchild Carly and great-granddaughter Jill Pownall (Glen) and many great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Adriana was predeceased by her parents, Dina and Abraham Haak; brothers, Adrian and Johannes; sisters, Janneke DeCuypere and Betsy Shortt; her first husband David Bradley in 1935; her second husband Walter Rickets in 1967 and her granddaughter Candace Kellendonk in 1974. Adriana's a day at a time approach kept her actively involved with life. She loved her family and many friends and was always sewing, baking or growing something to share with them. She was never one to be idle and worked as a seamstress until the age of 78 when she reluctantly retired. Her passion for flowers and gardening was well known to all and her house on St. Vital Road was often a photographer's preference because of the beauty and uniqueness of her flowers. Over the years a number of her flowers were published in a variety of collections. She was also very proud of her home and the fact that anyone visiting was always welcome and often commented on how it they felt it was like visiting a little piece of Holland. Nanny to her grandchildren, family and many friends, will always be in our hearts and remembered for her love, grace, and gentleness and her unique ability to find so much enjoyment in the simplest things in life. She leaves us with so many precious memories. Special thanks to the staff and doctors at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home where Nanny resided the past three years. It was great comfort knowing that she was not just cared for, but was very much cared about. Also special thanks to her very good friends, Bill and Teena Roelof who were always there to lend a helping hand. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home, 75 Hospital St., Whitemouth, MB. (204) 348-7191.

Many fond memories of our visits together, both at the lake and in the city. 28 years I still sleep with my pillow case with my name on it and have the blanket throw for the couch. Miss her a great deal, wonderful lady and roll model. Love Mike - Posted by: Micheael (Great grandson) on: Aug 24, 2015
