Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET ROSE PATTERSON (nee NASH) July 24, 1911 July 20, 2006 On Thursday, July 20, at Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home, Violet left us peacefully, just days before her 95th birthday. She is survived by her sons, John and Garry; daughter-in-law Beverley; grandchildren, Kristen, Cathy (Robyn), Michael and Sean (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Alexander, Hailey, Carter, Brandon, Alyssa and Jacob; her brother Albert and sister-in-law Opal; their families, and the families of her late brother Walter and sister-in-law Ethel. She was predeceased in 1979 by her husband William, and in 1991 by her daughter-in-law Gerry. Violet was born in Shoreditch, England and came to Winnipeg with her mother when still a baby, as her father had found employment here. At the age of four, she survived his sudden death, and devoted her childhood and adolescence to looking after her mother and brothers while studying to become a pianist. She received her certificate from the Toronto Academy of Music, whereafter she played Sunday services at the Winnipeg Citadel with friends and fellow musician Mary Steeds until late retirement. In 1943, she was married to William and was blessed with the births of John and Garry in 1945 and 1948, respectively. For more than 25 years, she worked for Richardson Securities (Systems Equipment), and, a devoted caregiver who tended to her mother, husband, and daughter-in-law, she served with the League of Mercy for almost 50 years. She was awarded Woman of Distinction in 1986. Deep thanks to the loving people at the Pembina Place Mennonite and Fort Garry Personal Care Homes you have provided our family great relief and comfort, and many a necessary laugh these past few years. What we were not able to do for Violet, was handled by you with honour and tenderness. Thank you, also, to Captains Wayne and Sherri Williams, Corps Sgt Major Ken Davis and Mike Vogiatzakis at Voyage Funeral Home for thoughtful care of the final preparations. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m. at East Kildonan Salvation Army Corps, 401 Henderson Hwy. Viewing will take place at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Thomson in the Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 220 Hespeler @ Henderson Hwy 668-3151
