She fought the good fight! Safe in the arm of Jesus! Muriel (Mau to her siblings) was born on the 13 of April, 1921 at Elm Creek, MB to Maggie Grawberger and Newman Kenyon, one of nine children. She was predeceased by her siblings, Georgina, Zelpha, Eva, Chester, Wally, Willoughby and Phillys in infancy, she was also predeceased by one son Jim in 1988, a great-granddaughter Amanda in 1987 and great-grandson James in 2001. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marcia (Norman), Carolyn (Conrad), Douglas (Sue), Linda, Colleen (Joe), Bruce (Monique) and Heather; her grandchildren, Maureen (Bernie), Wendy (Barry), Charlotte (Donald), Kim (John), Chris (Sue), Kerry (Fran), Jody, Darlene, Leonard (Pat), Gwen, Jackie, Dean, Cindy, Rosalyn, William (Cheryl), Richard, Travis, Dylan (Samantha), Waylon, Blair (Pam), Dana (Joe), Sean (Rachelle) and Shannon (Trevor); 36 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; her sister Mabel in British Columbia as well as numerous nieces and nephews that she thoroughly enjoyed. Mom worked for McDonald Douglas, building planes during the war. After the war she worked hard at raising her children. She always had wisdom and guidance to pass on. She had songs to teach us and sang a lot of little ditties when we were children. The door was always open to everyone and she would make everyone a meal even if she had only a little in the house. She was a great cook, made the best biscuits and everyone felt welcome in her home. Mom loved little kids and her arms were always open to them. Mom was also known as the town barber. She was a gentle inspiring lady who had many comments from people who thought she had the manners of a genteel woman. While she was on the farm, animals followed her everywhere, She also knitted many mittens for her grandchildren as well as pillows, afghans and quilts. The family would like to thank home care attendants from Stoney Plains and the Beausejour Hospital Staff for their care and thoughtfulness. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons St. Interment of the cremated remains will take place in Badger, MB later that afternoon.
