EDWARD HAIER August 11, 1922 July 24, 2006 It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved brother, uncle and friend, Edward Haier on July 24, 2006 at the Beausejour District Hospital with his family at his side. Eddie will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his two devoted sisters, Bernice Bukoski of Beausejour and Mildred Burek of Hazelridge; his nieces and nephews, Marilyn (Allen) Kazina, Sharon Bukoski, Darryl (Patricia) Bukoski and Chester (Brenda) Neduzak all of Winnipeg, Patrick Burek of Hamilton; his great-niece Robynne Kazina and his great-nephews, Colin Kazina, Evan and Derek Neduzak; his great-step-niece Pamela (Mark) McBride; his great-step-nephew Mark Berndt; and his many friends, especially those at Beau-Head Seniors and Lions Lodge and many cousins. Eddie was predeceased by his parents, John Haier (1989) and Anna Haier (1993); his beloved sister Violet Neduzak (2000); and his brothers- in-law, John Neduzak (2004), Frank Bukoski (1993) and Casmer Burek (1999). Eddie was born in Winnipeg on August 11, 1922 and moved to Hazelridge as a young boy with his parents and siblings, Violet, Bernice and Mildred. He received his education at the Hazelridge School and after completing grade eleven, he farmed with his dad. Eddie enjoyed taking part in community events. He was involved with the Farmers' Union for several years and was also Secretary of the Hazelridge Sports Club. Eddie and the late Willie Burek were the icemakers at the curling rink for several winters. All who attended the different functions at the Hazelridge Hall during the 60's, 70's and 80's would always spot Eddie sitting at a table in the corner by the cloakroom selling liquor tickets. He was a real fixture there. In the early 90's, Eddie and Willie took bus tours to the Maritimes and California. They shared many happy times together. In the fall of 1997, Eddie moved the Lions Lodge in Beausejour where he met and associated with many dear friends. He spent many happy hours playing cribbage, bingo and whist at Beau-Head Seniors. He also enjoyed playing cribbage with his sister Mildred on Sunday afternoons after attending church. He was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church at Cook's Creek. Eddie had a heart of gold and a pleasant disposition. He will really be missed by all who knew him. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church at Cook's Creek with Father Martin Bradbury officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Prayers will be said on Thursday, July 27 (tonight) at 7:30 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour. Honourary pallbearers will be Paul and Yvonne Nazarko. Active pallbearers will be Darryl Bukoski, Allen Kazina, Chester Neduzak, Patrick Burek, Colin Kazina and Evan Neduzak. We wish to thank Dr. Zeiler and the staff at the Beausejour District Hospital for their care and concern. Also, special thanks go out to Eddie's Home Care Workers. If desired, donations in Eddie's memory may be made to Beau-Head Seniors Association, Box 1817, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0 or to St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Cook's Creek.
