GEORGE LAWRIE 1923 - 2006 Peacefully, July 26, 2006 at the Victoria General Hospital, George left us after a battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Gladys, his first-born son David Alan Lawrie, his father John Lawrie, mother Isabella Lawrie and nine brothers and sisters. George is survived by his children, Debbie (Paul), Ken (Heather) and Cathy (Gerry), eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, along with numerous relatives, nieces and nephews. George served with the RCAF in the Second World War as an aircraft maintenance personnel based in England. He worked for 40 years as an inspector at the CNR. George had many loves in life. First and foremost was his family. He loved the cottage at Grand Beach, he enjoyed attending Moose games, playing piano, and had an avid interest in carpentry. His tremendous passion for sports gave him fulfillment throughout his life, especially during his later years. Special thanks to the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their devoted and unconditional care giving. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. Officiated by Pastor Jim Poirier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Peace be with you.
