DREW HUNTER DAWSON On July 23, 2006 Drew passed away at the age of 49 years. He is predeceased by his parents, Doris (nee Thomson) and Dr. Delmar Dawson (D.D.S.) Left to cherish his beautiful memory, wife Emily, daughter Rebecca, twin sister Deborah (Len) Prawdzik and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Shortly after his twin sister Deborah, Drew was born on November 15, 1956 at the Misericordia General Hospital in Winnipeg. Surprised and excited parents, Del and Doris returned home to Neepawa, MB., with their newborn twins. Drew grew up in Neepawa and met his wife to be Emily Lehmann when he ordered a toasted bacon and tomato sandwich with all the fixins' for which he was only prepared to pay $2.00. Emily was instantly smitten by his sparkling ocean blue eyes and mischievous grin. Drew and Emily were married on September 26, 1981 in Neepawa, MB and lived in Winnipeg. On April 11, 1994 their daughter Rebecca Catherine was born. Drew was a proud and devoted father. Drew patiently played with Rebecca for hours. They shared many of the same interests. One of the things they liked to do best was going to Monster Jam events. Trucks and other motorized vehicles were their passion. Drew enjoyed listening to blues and country music. You might have been lucky to catch him dancing (but only after midnight). You'd know him best for wearing a baseball cap, cowboy boots, bootleg jeans, sporting sunglasses, and enjoying coffee from one of his many steel travel mugs. As a young man he was an avid hunter, enjoyed golfing, and spent most of his time outdoors. Drew loved his many pets and was fond of hunting dogs. Drew was fun-loving and known for his direct approach, keen wit and teasing manner. Games of hearts and cribbage were played ruthlessly. Drew was a loyal, generous friend; was a dedicated and hard working employee - always there to lend a helping hand to neighbours and friends. He found creative ways to get the job done with speed and efficiency. A celebration of Drew's life was held on Friday, July 28 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel in St. Boniface. Interment followed at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Drew's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to the Winnipeg Humaine Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to friend Wayne Delorme, Glen Talbot (Desjardins Funeral Chapel) and Lynda Trenholm (celebrant) for their exemplary kindness and support.
