MAE MOBBERLEY (BADLEY)
Date of Passing: Jul 25, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAE MOBBERLEY (nee BADLEY) Mae Violet Mobberley left us on July 25, 2006, at the age of 97. Mum went peacefully, she was tired and ready to join those who had gone ahead, husband Ernest Alfred in 1982; her parents, William and Christina Badley; all her siblings, Charles, Christina, Winifred, Dorothy, Stella, Molly and Bill; their spouses, her in-laws and many old friends. A wonderful mother to daughter Sue and son-in-law Sal Aysan; loving and beloved Gramma to Dan (Tracy), Tim (Kimberley) and Sara (Alex); and, to her eternal delight, GiGi (great-grandmother) to Logan, Wyatt and Nick, Aihnoa, Rebecca and Nathan. Her sweet smile, sunny nature and rather sardonic sense of humour will live on in our memories as well as in those of her extended family and all who knew her well. Mum was born in 1909 in Arizona, MB shortly after her family emigrated from England. She moved to Winnipeg as a young child and started working at the age of 14 at Eaton's, where she worked until her marriage to Ernie. Her life revolved around her family, she loved reading, handwork of all kinds, and gardening. She loved to travel and made several trips to England with her husband and later traveled with her sister Dorothy. At the age of 80 she moved to Port Coquitlam, BC and enjoyed 11 years there with Dorothy and her nieces and nephews. She returned to Winnipeg at 91 and moved into the Waverley where she made new friends and had several good years. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at the Rosewood, where Mum spent the last few months, for their kindness, and care and Dr. Gail Horton and the staff of 5 North at Victoria Hospital for their loving care and compassion in her last week. In lieu of flowers donations in Mae's memory may be made to The P.E.O. Foundation 1030 - 1750 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R3T 4J5 (It is an organization which provides educational and charitable assistance to women in need) or The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
