EDWARD DUKE SR. Peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2006, after a long battle with cancer, our loving husband and father was called to be with our Lord. Ed was born October 3, 1924 in Winnipeg, the fourth child of five to Michael and Maria. Predeceased by his parents, his sister Susan and brothers, Frank and Raymond. He is survived by Mary, his beloved wife of 47 years; sons, Edward (Evan), Frank (Edmonton); daughters, Mary Jane, Therese (Calgary); grandson Michael; his sister Maureen of Los Angeles, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ed owned his own company in the commercial advertising industry for more than 40 years until his retirement. He was a family man in every sense of the word; his family and home were always his first priority. He was always willing to provide assistance and advice to anyone who asked if he was able to do so. He was a lifetime member of Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. His business and personal successes were many and varied. But nothing gave him more pride and pleasure than his family. His financial savvy, political analysis and his quick dry wit will be sadly missed by all of us. His presence was strong and silent but always warm and comforting. We wish to thank Dr. Paul Galbraith, Dr. Catherine Molson, Dr. John Mayba, Dr. Berrington, Dr. Zwai and the nursing staff from Health Sciences Centre A5 Unit and CancerCare Manitoba for all their care and compassion. Flowers gratefully declined. Please make any donations to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Prayers will be sung Monday, July 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, August 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Fly with the angels and watch over us Eddy, we love you and miss you. VICHNAYA PAMYAT / REST IN PEACE KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
