IONA GENE BROWN (nee FAULKENHAM) It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Iona Brown, beloved wife, mother, sister, nannie and very good friend. Peacefully on July 28, 2006 at St. Boniface Hospital, Iona passed away at the age of 70. Left to treasure her memory are her husband Warner; son Stephen (Deanna); daughter Sheri Lynn (Keith); brother Ralph Faulkenham; her granddaughters Tina, Laura, Victoria and Savannah. Very close to her heart, Aunt Lina Taylor and cousin Shirley Judge; nephews Reâl and Rene Faulkenham and numerous special and close friends. She was predeceased by her father Robistar Faulkenham; her mother Gertrude (Fredericks) Faulkenham and her brother John Faulkenham. Iona was born on May 17, 1936 and raised in Bridgetown, NS. She graduated and moved to Ottawa where they got married April 12, 1957. In 1963 Iona gave birth to Stephen and the family moved to Pinawa, MB in 1964. In 1968, her daughter Sheri Lynn arrived and Iona spent countless hours making a beautiful home for her family, where they resided for 20 years. When her children were older Iona went back to school and was hired at AECL in Pinawa and worked as a secretary. She not only loved her work but also the many friends with whom she worked with. In her spare time she loved to sew, cook, do crafts and take care of her home. Her true passion was family and friends. Due to ongoing health problems she moved to Winnipeg in 1987 where she met many more good friends over the years. Iona cherished her family and friends and always had time to listen and help others. She was happiest when spending time laughing with her friends and family. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all those who lives she touched. The family would like to thank Rosewood Village where mom spent her last few months, for their care and kindness and the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency and ward 5B for their compassion and quality of care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 2 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 400 Portage Ave. with interment and reception to follow. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part, God has you in his keeping We have you in our hearts.
