JOAN ELLIOTT It is with great sadness we announce that Joan Elliott passed away peacefully on July 30, 2006 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 83, following a lifelong battle with heart disease. Joan was born October 16, 1923, the second child of Thomas and Dorothy Elliott. She was raised in Winnipeg; and she worked for Omniscreen Silk Printers for 32 years, retiring in 1988. Joan is survived by her brother-in-law William Kalyniuk (Greg, Ken, Shannon and Families), BC; cousins: Bill (Lynn) Slocombe, Canmore, AB, Mark (Deb, Lisa, Ryan) Scott, Winnipeg, David (Laura) Koltun, Winnipeg; as well as great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her mother (1967), father (1980), sister Doreen (2000), aunt Rose Kolbeck (2004) and cousin Joyce Koltun (2002). Baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1974, Joan had been associated with the Arlington Congregation for over 30 years. She will be greatly missed by her extended family of spiritual brothers and sisters, especially Lou Barker, Irene Bandy. Joan was a loving, caring person, a devoted daughter looking after her parents in their later years. For the rest of her life, despite on going health problems, she showed this same dedication and caring as she shared her faith in Jehovah God and his promise of a new system where pain, sickness and death will be gone. Her belief in the Bible's hope of a resurrection sustained her to the end. (John 5:28, 29 Rev. 21:4). A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 4, at the Kingdom Hall, 1060 Wolever Avenue (west side) at 7:30 p.m. with Mr. Kenneth Sallows officiating. A private interment will be held. Grateful thanks go to the staff of unit 5 at the Victoria Hospital, especially Linda, who went Above and Beyond to make Joan's last days comfortable and with dignity. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice. THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD (BETWEEN PEMBINA WAVERLEY) 925-1120
