Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER SUDERMANN MD, FRCS, FACS, CAPS 1923 - 2006 Peacefully on July 31, 2006, in the company of his wife and family, Peter passed away at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg. He was born February 22, 1923 in Waldheim, Russia. Peter is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Henderson); and children, Leonard (Linda), Patricia (Frank), Peter (Andrea), Daniel and Robert (Katina); and grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer and Luke; Joshua, Natasha, Benjamin and Jaime; Gabriel and Lena; Jordan, Taylor, Ashton and Andreas. Peter was predeceased by his mother Aganetha (Riediger) and father Leonhard; brothers, George and Harry. Peter graduated from Medicine from the University of Goertingen, Germany. In 1950, sponsored by the Mennonite Central Committee, he immigrated to Canada. Upon his arrival in Winnipeg, he furthered his medical studies and obtained his fellowship in both the Royal and American Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons. In 1974, he pursued his training and specialized in Paediatric General Surgery. He joined the Winnipeg Clinic in 1969 and enjoyed his time there and the camaraderie of his colleagues. He was a voracious reader of history and current affairs and his passions included spending time with his family and friends. He spent his many winter weekends skiing at Mt. Aggasiz and summers at Victoria Beach. Peter was devoted to his medical practice and the profession and was well suited for this calling. The family is greatly appreciative towards the care given by the nursing and medical staff at the Victoria General Hospital and for their unwavering support and compassion. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5, 11:30 a.m. at Saint Michaels Church, Victoria Beach, MB. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8, the Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9, or to a charity of choice.
