Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGORY MARGARET ROSE WALKER (nee SHURA) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Marge Walker on July 27, 2006 at the age of 64 years, at Health Sciences Centre. Left to mourn Marge's passing are her sons, Duane and Scott; sister Liz (Ken); brother Art; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Keith Walker; her parents, John and Sally Shura; brother Walter (Kathy); and sister-in-law Doreen (Art). Marge was born in Glenella, MB on October 7, 1941. After teacher's college she taught in Winnipeg, Roblin, Dauphin, Chateauguay, Mayo and Whitehorse. While teaching in Mayo, she met Keith and they married in Calgary in 1969. Both sons were born in the Yukon and the family moved to Selkirk in 1974, where Marge and Keith obtained teaching positions with the Lord Selkirk School Division. Marge taught primarily Grade 1 until her retirement in 1996. In retirement she kept very busy with P.E.O., learning to play bridge, and attending many cultural events. She had an eventful social calendar and belonged to various groups. Marge recently became involved with Friendship Force which she greatly enjoyed. Marge always had a positive, adventurous spirit that was an inspiration to those around her. She loved to travel and was able to take several extended trips overseas. She was a hard worker her whole life, and managed to obtain her Bachelor of Education degree while teaching and being a devoted wife and mother. Despite the numerous health problems she lived with, she never complained. Marge was truly a giving person and a joy to be around. She wanted to be remembered as someone who did not follow the usual path. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Chapels in Selkirk. Honorary pall-bearers will be from P.E.O. Chapters G and N. Donations can be made to the Lupus Society of Manitoba or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mom, you will always be loved and remembered. Special thoughts of you will remain with us throughout our lives. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
