GURBACHAN RAI SACHDEV (RAI-JI) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Saint Boniface Hospital at the age of 71 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jyoti of 43 years; and his children, daughter Rose (Fiadore) of Toronto and son Jeewan (Anokhi) of Calgary. He will also be missed and forever remembered by his three grandsons, Rohan, Deven and Shay. Rai will be missed by his family in India, as well as, his family of friends in Winnipeg and around the world. He was born in India on March 1, 1935. He married the love of his life, Jyoti in 1962 and immigrated to Canada shortly after. Rai was with Acres International in Niagara Falls, Toronto, and Winnipeg for over 30 years, but was always an entrepreneur at heart. He started a business with his wife Jyoti, which later, along with his family were his passions. Dad's business and personal successes were many and varied, but nothing gave him more pride and pleasure than his family. He was always willing to provide assistance to his children. He had seen hard times early on in life and was committed to ensuring his children were educated and never lacked for anything. Dad was an extremely proud and yet humble man, who was always there for his friends and family. His support and guidance will be greatly missed. Dad, we love you and thank you for being the great man and father we adored and always admired. Mom would like to thank their friends for their continued love and support during this most difficult time. Winnipeg was always home to Dad because of his friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4 at 12:00 noon in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. followed by prayers (Shantipath) at the Hindu Temple, 999 St. Anne's Road at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. THOMSON IN THE PARK Funeral Home Cemetery 1291 McGillivray Blvd. (Between Pembina Waverley) 925-1120
