BERT HARDER The family of Bert Harder is saddened to announce his passing on July 31, 2006. He will be remembered by his wife Julia, children Angela (Steve), Linnea (Craig), Greg (Lindsey), James (Laura) and Charles (Kelly), granddaughters Cailyn and Nicole, brother Len (Shirley and family) and many more close family and friends. Bert was predeceased by his mother and father, John and Amalia. Bert was born on December 22, 1941 in Winkler and married Julia on June 4, 1966. They eventually settled in Landmark to raise their five loving children. Bert spent his working years as a mechanical insulator and spoke very highly of the group of guys he worked with over the years. During retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, making wine and beer, and tinkering with engines. He always took pride in whatever he did, whether it was on the job site or brewing the perfect batch of beer. Dad enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, sitting and talking with friends and family in the backyard, taking the kids for rides on the ATV, and spending time with his grandchildren. He always had a story to tell, and always found a way of making people laugh. Dad was happiest when he was with his family at Big Whiteshell Lake camping and fishing, instilling in all of his children a love of the outdoors. The family wishes to thank the caring support of the doctors and nursing staff of St. Anne's Hospital, especially Dr. Fredette and CancerCare at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. A special tribute is extended to the wonderful driving service provided by the Freemasons of Manitoba. A private service for the family will be held on August 4 to honour his memory and celebrate his life. As a symbol of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bert Harder to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
