REGINALD EDWARD LAST Reg passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long and courageous battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). He is no longer locked in his body and a prisoner to his chair and now, his soul is free. Reg was the oldest of five children, born on August 6, 1928 to Rose and Ernest Last of Homewood, MB. He was predeceased by his sister Bernice Baker and husband Donald, sister-in-law Bernice Last, brother-in-law Fred Nash, and grandson Drew Bartley. Reg loved the farm and enjoyed working with his Dad at the Homewood homestead for many years. He began working for E.D. McEachern potato farming which soon became his passion for 18 years. He positively loved working with the potato crews. He was respected and loved by them all. His slogan in life was You never ask anyone to do what you can't or wouldn't do yourself. He jumped at the opportunity to own and operate the Texaco Bulk agency. He loved serving the public and especially the farmers. His other love was delivering flowers for Gwen's Flower Shop . Reg's other passions in life were D.A.S., the Anglican church choir, Nice and Easy singing group, Mason's, Golfing, Curling, Founding Member of Celebration of Life. Dad loved the Town of Carman and it's community and always lent a helping hand to any group or family that needed it. He loved parties and being around friends and family. He loved special occasions because all the kids would be home. Grandchildren were a special favourite. He would drive as far as it took to attend a hockey game, ringette, piano recital, baseball or whatever else the grandchildren were involved with. The kids could always hear Pops clapping and cheering. Reg leaves to mourn his wife Gwen of 53 years; children Deborah (Dan), Colleen Cosgrove; Joy (Dave), Tyler and Dustin Stewart; Cheryl (Ron), Britni and Andrew Bartley; Craig (Donna), Sydney and Tyson Last; Kelly (Anna), Andrea, Brendan, Evan and Lauren Last. Sisters Roseanne and Walter Alexiuk, Frances and Grant Stambuski, Olivia Keith, brother, George Last; also numerous nieces and nephews. Our family would like to extend their gratitude and deepest appreciation to all the staff at Boyne Lodge who cared for Dad over the past three years. All of you treated Dad with the greatest respect and dignity and for that we are truly grateful. Dad will always be remembered as a loving compassionate and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by everyone who knew him. He was a friend to everyone. Funeral Services will be held at the Carman Pentecostal Church, #3 Hwy. East of Carman, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7 with Rev. Brian Minaker officiating. A private family interment will be held earlier at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to Boyne Lodge 2nd Floor Activities.
